Craving for sweet things is something that is inherently human. We all have a sweet tooth; we all like to have sweet and sugary things. The problem with this is that for some, instead of putting the right sweet things in our mouths, we reach for the empty calorie refined sugary sweets that do nothing for our health.

I crave sweet things, just like you probably do but sometimes cravings can be out of control and we need to address this issue before it gets worse!

We need to abstain from refined sugary foods, if we want them to pass for good. This is a lot harder to do when we don’t nourish our bodies sufficiently enough to stop cravings ever being an issue. So making sure we get enough calories on a daily basis and plenty of fresh fruits (natural nutritious sugary foods) and greens will help us keep cravings from ever occurring.

Most people find that their cravings are only ever so intense they can’t cope and have to cave when they haven’t eaten much that day or have had no breakfast. I find that if I get a good decent breakfast in, it sets me up for the daily nicely and stops me giving in or even experiencing cravings later in the day.
Secondly we need to know what is triggering this craving. If it isn’t hunger then it could be emotional eating. If you are finding that you eat after stressful situations, out of boredom or other emotional issues then you are an emotional/comfort eater. For more information on emotional eating you should visit ShrinkYourself.com. This website has a wealth of information and free interactive tools on how to overcome emotional eating. It is worth a look!

If it isn’t emotional eating – eating plenty of fruit if you experience a craving and distracting yourself will be enough to get the craving to pass. It will only be a matter of minutes too, so don’t cave but persevere. You can beat cravings you just need to start giving your body the nutritious food it needs and learn to be aware of your cravings as only something that lasts a few minutes.
